Saint Patrick’s Day is a short three days away.“What are ya waiting for? Don't be a gobshite. Up the yard!”, says Gerry Coughlan, procurer of Everyday English and slang in Ireland and promoter of the book “Irish Language and Culture,” a Lonely Planet title.
It’s a fun website. I browsed around a bit and learned a few things. For example, did ya know culchies like “diggin' houles, saying someone's 'Opened a Book' on something, and accordians?” Do ya even know what a culchie is, Munchie? Well if not, alcho, stop cnawvshawling, and spend ages on this website!
But don’t kiss the Blarney stone if you make it over to Ireland.
In all seriousness, we are accepting reviews and excerpts written by your favorite Irish authors, so stop slinjing, put your wellies on, and round up some prime Irish lit for us.
