Phyllis Whitney Dies
| news item by sbarranca , I read to escape and I escape to read! |
written by Susan Barranca
The novelest Phyllis Whitney has died at the age of 104. She mostly wrote romantic or mystery based novels. She started writing and publishing in the 1940's and has had around 75 books published in her lifetime.
She has been writing her whole life, and says that she had to slow down to one book a year in the last several years. Click here to read more about her accomplishments and to see some of the awards that she has earned.
On a seperate note, in honor of Black History Month, I would like to reccommend a novel that I read years ago, but think of often. It is by Gloria Naylor, and it was wonderful; if anyone has read it recently, we could use the review.

I wanted to like this book; I really, really did. I thought something set in a post-9/11 world that still has elements of cyberpunk--I could TOTALLY get on board with that. And yet...This book disap...
